Woo Hoo! Today is my last day of my last full week! My exchange partner is done with school now and is - I'm sure - quite busy trying to get everything ready to go. I have tracked down my Narara Valley High School email address ([email protected]) in case anyone wants to email me there, though really the best place to still het a hold of me is through my regular [email protected] email. Olin has a birthday party this weekend. His longtime bud is pretty sad that he's leaving so it is good that Olin can spend some time with his this weekend. We are getting rid of the ducks today! (Thank goodness). I'm done with livestock for a while. Our cupboards are bare as we are eating through our food. And I think I've spent more money on shoes in the last month than in the last 3 years put together. We've heard that shoes are expensive there, so have been stocking up on school shoes, play shoes, and what not for while we are there. All of them, of course are a bit on the big side, so poor Olin is running around in a size 8 mens when he is actually more of a 7. Gotta leave room to grow into them over the year! Guess it was 104°F yesterday in Gosford. Bring it! It is snowing here! 3 inches last night.

We Skyped with Bron and her family yesterday. Such lovely people. It was funny when I saw her husband Brett, because he looks a lot like Tom. Blonde bearded man with glasses! It was wonderful talking with them. Grace showed us an owl feather and said they have lots of owls there, and she showed us her uniform. It was great to see the girls' expressionswhen we took the laptop outside and showed them the snow. Theirs mouths were perfect little o's! This just made it all that much more real!
Also - an update on Alta's enrollment. She is now enrolled in school in Australia so both kids are officially ready to start at the end of January. And.... We found homes for the ducks!! Amanda contacted a friend of hers and she said she has room for four more ducks. Whew! That was starting to stress me out. I didn't want to have to slaughter them! We have about 3 weeks left until we leave and things are starting to come together! We just signed our housing exchange agreement and figured out how to work out the electric, internet, and house fuel billing. It is funny to think about but way back when I first applied that was one of the biggest 'hurdles' in my mind. How were we going to work out the utilities? It is funny to me that that really is the last thing that we tackled! We are going to Skype with Bron and her family on Saturday, so I'm looking forward to finally getting to meet her. We also have a couple new leads on the ducks. We have four that we are trying to rehome. I sent out an email to all three schools today introducing Bron and then also asking for help to rehome the ducks and some people responded back. Hopefully we can find good homes for them.
